Enoch Wedgwood Transferware Teacup

Enoch Wedgwood Tunstall Ltd was an English pottery company based in the town of Tunstall, Staffordshire, which is part of an area known as the Potteries. The company produced large quantities of affordable earthenware tableware decorated with traditional blue and white transfer prints, starting around the mid-twentieth century. Their tableware was made by pressing or casting clay into molds, firing it in large kilns, and applying printed paper designs onto the glazed surface before a final firing.

Families across Britain and overseas used these cups and saucers every day for morning and afternoon tea in homes and workplace canteens. They were set out on kitchen tables and dining room sideboards to serve hot tea to family members and guests during meals and visits. Production of these classic blue transferware lines gradually slowed down as tastes shifted toward plain modern ceramics and factory ownership changed hands.
