Mid 20th Century/ United States
Arthur Singer was an American wildlife artist who created detailed illustrations of birds and nature for books and portfolios. His work was published by major presses in New York, New York, during the middle of the twentieth century to educate the public about native fauna. He used meticulous gouache and watercolor techniques that highlighted the vibrant plumage of birds alongside their natural botanical habitats.
These decorative prints were commonly framed and hung in suburban homes, offices, and schools across North America. They provided an affordable way for nature enthusiasts to bring detailed wildlife art into their living spaces and classrooms. Over time, many of these framed educational plates were separated from their original portfolios and distributed individually as standalone wall decor.
