Antique RS German Hand-Painted Plate

The Reinhold Schlegelmilch porcelain factory, commonly known as RS Prussia or RS Germany, was established in Tillowitz, Silesia (now Poland), during the mid-19th century. The company gained international renown for producing elegant, finely decorated porcelain items that appealed heavily to the Edwardian and Art Nouveau middle-class home decorator market. Items bearing the 'RS Germany' mark were typically manufactured between the early 1900s and the onset of the First World War.

During this prosperous era, blanks were formed in the Silesian factories and finished with intricate hand-painted floral motifs, often highlighted with delicate gilt embellishments. These decorative cabinet plates and tea sets were exported in large quantities to the United States and Western Europe, where they became staples of parlor and dining room displays. Today, collectors value these pieces for their charming artistry, delicate translucency, and the historical craftsmanship of the Schlegelmilch enterprise.
