The Bunnykins line was originally created in 1934 by Sister Mary Barbara, a nun at the Roman Catholic convent of St. Augustine in Priory, England, whose father was managing director of Royal Doulton. Royal Doulton adopted these whimsical illustrations onto durable bone china tableware, turning simple nursery items into beloved worldwide collectibles.

Over the decades, the collection expanded significantly to include commemorative pieces, figurines, and banking items like the spherical money ball shown here. These pieces captured the innocence of childhood through detailed hand-painted transfers that depicted traditional family life transposed onto anthropomorphic rabbits.
